While the shape of the nose is usually the result of heredity, the appearance may have been altered in an injury or during prior surgery.
Rhinoplasty improves the appearance & proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony and self confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.
Rhinoplasty can change:
• Nose size, in relation to the other facial structures
• Nose width, at the bridge of the nose
• Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
• Nasal tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping or too upturned
• Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
• Nostrils asymmetry and deviation.
AUGMENTATION RHINOPLASTY
~ also called Dorsal/ Bridge augmentation, or noselift – done to increase the height of the dorsum of the flat nose.
ALAR PLASTY (NOSE TRIM)
~ to narrow the wide alar width of the nose, reduce flaring, or to reduce the large opening of the nostrils. It may also lift the nasal tip up a bit.
TIP PLASTY
~ to modify the nasal tip area.
HOW IS IT DONE?
Incisions are made inside the rim of the nostrils. Sometimes tiny, inconspicuous incisions are made on the rim of the nose. Soft tissues of the nose are then separated from the underlying structures. The cartilage & bone that are causing the external deformity are altered & reshaped. The most commonly used material is silicone implant w/c is firm, rubbery substance that is well tolerated by the body. Other materials used are cartilage & Goretex. It is done for 30 mins.
