Micro needling / Dr. Roller
Skin Needling or Micro-Needling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy which is intended to smooth wrinkles, improve depressed acne scarring as well as reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It is one the newest, easiest and most effective skin treatments available and is a process which can be carried out clinically.
What is micro needling?
Micro-needling is done with a roller that is filled with numerous tiny needles that penetrate the skin by 1mm. This small amount can effectively reduce the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles without any bruising or swelling to worry about afterwards. The small puncture wounds stimulate collagen to be produced by the skin that will fill in the scars and lines for a smoother complexion. In some cases, micro-needling has even been shown to change pigmentation of these areas for a more even complexion as well.
How is it done?
The treatment begins with a thorough cleansing of the skin, and then a topical anesthetic to numb the area that will be worked on. After about 45 minutes, the micro-needling rollers can be used on the skin without pain, and the treatment begins. Rolling will only take a few minutes, and afterward the skin will probably be red for two or three days. You can go back to your normal schedule the day after the treatment, and the only sign will be a pinker complexion as though you spent too much time in the sun. Within a week or two, you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant looking.
Micro-needling can be safely repeated every couple of months until you achieve the desired results. The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage at the beginning. Most people will begin to see results after the very first appointment. This procedure is less expensive than many other treatments and will include a much easier recovery time in most cases.
Is Micro-Needling Right for You?
Micro-needling can be a good choice for people who have not seen success in reducing the look of wrinkles or deep acne scars with other types of treatment. The cost is lower than many other procedures, the recovery is easier and the risk is less than that of more invasive treatment options. Talk to your dermatologist today to see if micro-needling is the right choice for you.
